NEW DELHI Young West Indies pacer Alzzari Joseph made a dream IPL debut by recording the best bowling figures in tournament’s history as Mumbai Indians picked up a 40-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in a low-scoring game in Hyderabad on Saturday.

Joseph broke former Pakistani paceman Sohail Tanvir’s 11-year old record by claiming the figures of 6/12 in 3.4 overs. The Rawalpindi-born bowler, representing Rajasthan Royals, finished with an astonishing figures of 6 for 14 against Chennai Super Kings in the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2008.

The 22-year-old Antiguan bowled a dream first over in the IPL, dismissing David Warner in a wicket maiden and followed it up with the wickets of Vijay Shankar, Deepak Hooda, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Siddharth Kaul. Apart from Joseph, Pat Cummins is the only other bowler to deliver a wicket-maiden in his very first IPL over.
Australian spinner Adam Zampa (6/19), who is third on the list, also claimed six-wicket haul in his four overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2016 edition of IPL.
It was the third win for Mumbai Indians in five games while Hyderabad suffered their second loss in five matches.
